A Whole New World
It is no secret that 2018 is one of the most unique times to be alive in the entire history of the world. The internet has given people the kind of instant access to information, as well as a connection to each other that is simply unprecedented. Once it took months for a person to simply travel from one side of the country to another, and that was the only way to pass information.
Now information can be shared to any part of the world in the blink of an eye. What has resulted from this, is a kind of global maturing and cultural refinement that is causing humanity to progress faster than ever before in every way, socially, economically, and politically. One example of this has been the recent lift of the tattoo taboo.
Work Approved
Tattoos were once associated with unsavory characters. A person with any kind of tattoo was usually considered a societal deviant for a long time, especially in America. Tattoos that could not be hidden by articles of clothing were even worse. In fact, it was a pretty well known fact up until very recently that having visible tattoos could substantially hurt your chances for employment.
It seems that times they are changing however, as the work tattoo taboo appears to be lifting. Once it was pretty much impossible to get a job working in any kind of government institution if you were sporting tattoos. Now however, they have become so commonplace that they are hardly regarded at all. Even big tattoos like arm sleeves are not getting the same disapproving stares they once did.
This is in part due to how common tattoos have become. So many of the younger generations are getting tattoos that agencies simply don’t have a choice but to start considering tattooed candidates, otherwise they could be losing out on valuable employees.
The New Norm
A whopping 40% of millenials have gotten a tattoo of one sort or the other on their body. Because of how common tattoos are becoming, it is now something that recruiters simply cannot ignore. The simple truth is, tattoos are becoming normalized, and not just in America, but all over the world.
Tattoos are no longer so closely associated with gang activity, drug peddlers, or other shady dealings. As more people decide to get inked, the stigma has started to dissipate. One of the defining moments for tattoos was when big companies and government facilities began accepting people with tattoos. This administrative acceptance is huge, and means big things for the future of tattoos.
A Good Start
While we are on the edge of a technological, intellectual, and cultural renaissance, it is important to understand that we still have a long way to go. The removal of the tattoo taboo is only the beginning. There are so many cultural shifts taking place that soon we are likely to find ourselves in a time of prosperity unlike anything we have experienced before.
