Those of us that know it takes preparation to outshine everyone else are already getting ready for 2019 prom! The only problem is not having a crystal ball to see upcoming trends for prom dresses 2019.
Without having a good idea of what kind of dress you have your heart set on, you can’t even be confident in starting to look at other items such as accessories or shoes!
If you want a bit of help with this, don’t fret: JJ’s House designer Jessica is here to work her magic and make sure you can see the future – well when it comes to prom 2019!
Get Down Low
Low back and cut out dresses are definite trends for 2019 – for a good reason. If you’ve been slaving away at the gym for months and want to show off all your hard work, backs can be quite a surprising place to start!
What’s great about dresses that are low in the back is that it is subtly suggestive, not overt – another option to going for a deep V-neck and being self-conscious and worried all night about a potential fashion disaster!
Jessica says, “Low backs or even cut-outs are especially stunning when coupled with long prom dresses – it is classy yet sexy all at once.” You can pick something simple such as a plain satin, or go for a beaded dress if you want to jazz it up a little!
Sparkle & Shine!
A sparkly material, bright, shiny beading, and sequins are very on trend for 2019 when it comes to prom dresses. We’ve seen this a lot in 2018 on the red carpet such as Kelly Marie Tran in her gorgeous blue bejeweled halter dress at the Oscars. This is an excellent example of a simple dress standing out through sparkling embellishments.
“Fabric shimmering with sparkles will look fabulous for 2019 prom dresses as it gives you so much choice!” says Jessica. You can pick a full princess-style gown with a plain bodice and sparkling tulle skirt, or go for a slinky, form-fitting dress in a sequined jersey or lycra material – anything goes!
One thing is certain – you will undoubtedly own the room when you walk in with one of these dresses on!
Give ’em The One Shoulder
One style making a massive comeback in 2019 is the one-shoulder gown. This style is having yet another resurgence, as it looks fantastic on just about anyone and is so versatile!
“You see the one-shoulder look on such a huge range of styles, across a multitude of fabrics,” says Jessica. “From classic chiffon to an elegant jersey, and fairy-tale tulle, this style is used a lot as it is easy to create a gorgeous silhouette.” If you want something timeless, you can’t go past a floor-length, tulle, and A-line prom dress or asymmetrical style.
Although the one-shoulder style looks great in a short dress, if you want something extraordinary, try and look for this style in a floor-length or sweeping style, so you get the full effect.
