Festivals

Both Penang and Singapore is known for its interesting and exotic festivals. Here are some that you should consider if you plan on traveling there:

Deepavali

Deepavali is also known as the Festival of lights. It celebrates the light conquering and defeating the dark in Hindu tradition. This celebration occurs during October-November. The Indian community in Singapore (Little India) comes alive with vibrant lights and high energy festivals.

Chinese New Year

This is one of Singapore’s major celebrations and most loved holidays in the year. If you are visiting Singapore in between January through February, you don’t want to skip this event. You’ll see a few festivals, street vendors, street performers, and much more throughout the city.

Thaipusam

This Hindu festival starts in January and isn’t for the faint of heart. The holiday is a tribute to Lord Subramanium; followers will be seen with spiked alters (but the alters are also piercing their bodies). Seeing this is a very memorable experience, but you might feel uneasy!

Vesak Day

Vesak Day is one of the most prominent holidays in the Buddhist community. It occurs in May and is used to encourage both the life and death of Buddha. While it’s a more serious holiday than the Chinese New Year, shrines and temples are still adorned, and other events like vegetarian food talks and fairs will be happening as well.

Which One Is Better?

Singapore has an urban, dramatic, technologically advanced area, with world-class attractions. This means that travelers can enjoy its luxury hotels, casinos, and other tourist activities that will keep you satisfied.

However, you can take a bus from Singapore to Penang to have another interesting experience.

If you’re new to South East Asia, it can be hard to decide which one is better. But if you’re looking for a cheap place to visit, go for Penang. Penang has beautiful beaches, and its inexpensive living means that you can have a relaxing summer. C

To conclude, you will enjoy both Singapore and Penang if you decide to visit. In fact, you can take a bus from Singapore to Penang, making it easier to see both in one vacation. When getting there, try to enjoy the beaches, nightlife, and the amazing scenery that’s around.
