Moving house can be stressful right from the day that you put your property onto the market. There’s all the time that you need to spend looking at properties that you are interested in purchasing as well as the potential buyers that you will have to entertain as they look at what your property has to offer. It can be difficult to keep on top of the housework, yet it is essential that you do, in order to keep your home appealing to those who might consider buying it. Here are 5 things that I do every day, just little bits that help you to keep on top of everything.
- Make your bed
There are so many reasons why you should make your bed every day. Mainly, it helps your bedroom appear more organised and beautiful, especially if you invest in some quality bedding and cushions. It also sets you up for the day as well. By making your bed as soon as possible you have started the day as you mean to go on, getting the small things done and this will help you to be more productive as the day progresses.
- Clean and wipe your counters daily
Clean counters just make a home feel so much tidier. When you have piles of paperwork, the kids school things, or other items laying around the house it can feel very cluttered and unorganised, this is not the impression you would want to give to a potential buyer. Make your house look ordered by cleaning and wiping all your surfaces every day, it will only take 5 minutes but will make your home look so much ordered. Plus, you might find some room for more accent lighting with some table lamps from my recent blog post.
- Wash the dishes and clean the sink
Do not leave dishes to fester by the sink. Get them done each night before you go to bed so that you don’t have to wake up to them in the morning. Getting up and heading into a kitchen which is all ready to use really works to focus your mind and helps you to be more productive. Who knows, it might give you the time and space you need to do your calculations ready for applying for your new mortgage.
- Tidy the countertops before bed
This has exactly the same effect as getting the washing up done before bed. Research shows that a cluttered home can make us unhappy. Whilst, I’m not suggesting that a few things out on a countertop should be described as clutter it does go without saying that waking up to a house that is clean and tidy sets us up for a positive, happy day.
- Run a kitchen sweeper every night
When you clean down all the worktops in your kitchen it is inevitable that crumbs or dust will end up on the floor. Make sure you have a quick once over with the kitchen sweeper every night, just to keep the floor looking as clean as possible.
