6 Great Ways To Display Quilts In Your Home

May 20, 2020 by vicky

Quilts have been making the rounds lately due to its extreme popularity on different social media sites. It is aesthetically pleasing and can easily be mixed and matched with your current home furniture and decors.

If you are wondering how to display your quilts in your home, you should look into these different ideas to help you out.

Couch Overlay

What better way to decorate your couch than by covering it with colorful quilts? These can double as lap covers to make your cold days warmer. It can serve as a protection for your couch from stains, animal fur, and even outside dirt. Choose bigger quilts and drape them carelessly over your sofa or couch. You can also have some matching quilts tailored to the throw pillows. For maintenance, you can simply remove the quilt for the laundry and put it right back after washing. Have a quilt for every season for an easy and varied decoration all year.

Bed Cover

The bed should be one of the most comfortable places in the house. Although there isn’t much you can do to decorate the bed itself because you have to sleep on it every time, you can just use a cover to make it look nicer and comfier. You don’t even have to tuck it in, just lay it on top of your bed especially to save you time from doing the sheets during the busy days. If you need an additional blanket, you can use it to double your warmth at night. You can even use it to wrap yourself when you have to get up and you feel chilly all over.

Backdrop

Simply hanging quilts on a plain wall is enough decoration as it is. The biggest quilts you have can be hung on the big walls, including the areas where your bed is on the walls in the kitchen and living room. If you have smaller quilts, you can hang them side by side to form a collage or you can combine them using some ideas from www.quiltersreview.com and incorporate some tips to design and sew them together. If you are a bit sentimental, use pieces from old garments as design to the quilt so when people come over, it can be a great conversation starter.

Blinds

Curtains are the common textile you put to cover windows and other openings in the house. If there are places you want to be covered from the sun, but tired of seeing the same alternatives, you can use your quilts instead. They are a fun and creative way to dress your windows while maintaining protection from the sun and having some privacy. You can use hangers and fasten the edges with clips if you don’t want to punch holes into your quilts. The solid and bold color you get from it will give a fresh look in this area. If you want to uncover the window, you can simply roll the quilt up and fasten it with a clip on the sides. You can also use it to decorate your dividers by simply hanging them by using rods or hangers.

Tabletop Runner

If you have tables around the house that are not used for eating, then you can use a quilt to save it from looking bare. It is a great decor for this which adds a statement to them. Even on other surfaces including the piano, cabinet, shelf, and others can be decorated with your quilts. They are thin enough to put vases or pictures on and they can be colorful enough to be the only decors you need for this furniture.

Door Hanger

Doors are usually left plain and simple, with no decorative adornment at all. You can hang a quilt on your doors to add a little personality to it. For the main door of the house, you can put quilts that are seasonal instead of hanging wreaths and December decorations. You may hang quilts for each of your bedroom doors to have a blast of color in the hallway. As a family, you can ask each member to sew one for each member as a way to bond together during the holidays.

The things you can do with quilts are many so you can explore your creative side. These are fun additions you can put in any area of your home to give a feeling of warmth and coziness. They are common materials and they are even fun projects to make with your friends and family.
