It’s not a nice feeling when you’re ready to go out exploring – but you feel underconfident and uncomfortable in your body. Social media and weight-loss advertising has convinced us that we need a slender body to be bikini ready. It can be challenging to combat relentless advertising.
Fortunately, there are small things you can do every day to improve your body confidence and feel ready to take on the beach.
Eat well
If you eat takeout and lay in bed all week, the chances are you will feel sluggish and tired. You need to feed your body with nutrients and healthy food so you can feel great and energetic! Try to focus on all that your body does for you instead of what you look like.
Stop drinking
Social media tends to paint summer as the prime time for drinking alcohol. However, alcohol can make you feel anxious, stressed and exhausted. Try giving up alcohol this summer so you can feel refreshed and more confident. Sobriety can do wonders for your mental wellbeing!
Wear clothes that fit well
Declutter your wardrobe and only keep the items that fit well. Invest in a pair of high-quality women’s trousers that fit well, make you feel amazing and will withstand the test of time. Avoid spending large amounts of money on things that you do not need and do not fit well.
If you find decluttering therapeutic, why not organise your whole home? You will feel clear-headed and ready to take on the world when your home is a peaceful space. The minimalist life might just be the answer to your high-stress levels.
Look to real women
On Instagram, we only see the best versions of people, and often these images are photoshopped and filtered. Try to follow real women, like your friends, family and body-positive bloggers. It helps to see real women on your social media, who look like you, instead of unrealistic edited bodies.
Exercise
Working out can make you feel great mentally and physically. You don’t have to go for the traditional exercises either. If you hate running and the gym, try out some more unusual fitness classes like aerial yoga, reformer Pilates and Zumba. Exercise can be fun and a brilliant way to release any negative energy you are holding onto.
