How Your Lawn Affects Your Whole Landscape

February 23, 2019 by vicky

You may not realize it, but your lawn has a big impact on the appearance of the entire outdoor landscape of your property. If the lawn is not at its best, it will be noticed for all the wrong reasons. This is especially important if you are going to be putting your home on the market any time soon. First impressions created by a landscape can put potential buyers off.

You tend to take your lawn for granted and it gets used as a play area, or a quick access route. In no time, it can start to look tired and worn. This appearance has a negative impact on the whole landscape and on the way, people view your home.

Can a lawn really be that important?

The simple answer to this question is “yes it can”, and there are many cites that cover this topic extensively. A significant area of lawn is highly visible to everyone; especially if it’s at the front of your property. If you want the curb appeal of your home to stand out, then be sure to pay attention to your lawn. Do your research and make sure to read up on best lawn care practices from multiple sources on the web.

Rightly or wrongly, people are going to think two things if they see a dying or seriously overgrown lawn, “That lawn is going to take some work to put right” and “If the lawn is so badly cared for the property is not going to be well maintained.” You do not want people to have either of these thoughts, especially if the sale of your home is at stake.

Making sure your lawn has a positive impact

You can see the way that a lawn has an impact on a whole landscape. You need to make sure that the impact is a positive one. This means that you need to maintain your lawn in the right way.

  • Grow an organic lawn which makes best use of natural nutrients and which does not need to be treated with chemicals which can damage the surrounding environment.
  • Keep grass at the right height. This does not mean mowing the grass very short as this can be damaging. Most grass thrives at a height of between 1.5 and 2.5 inches.
  • Choose the right grass for your lawn. Different grasses thrive in different parts of the country and if you have the wrong grass you may never have the beautiful lawn that you want.
  • Water your lawn deeply and no more than 2-3 times each week. Watering in this way helps the roots of the grass to develop and strengthen.

Additional resources

Its recommended to use multiple online resources when researching topics like lawn care. There are plenty of wiki site’s like Wikilawn, for example, that cover this topic in greater detail.

It takes time and effort to care for a lawn, but the end result makes it all worthwhile. A well-maintained lawn has a positive impact on the exterior landscape of your property and helps to create a good first impression. This is especially important if potential buyers are coming to view your home and you want to secure a quick sale and a good price. A luscious and healthy lawn really can make a big difference.
