Top 5 Plants to Grow in Large Decorative Pots

May 23, 2019 by vicky

Everyone needs a little bit of color and sunshine added inside their workspace. It is kind of a nice way to dress up a particularly blank office area since it gives it a nice organic character. Putting a decorative plant or flower pot adds a splash of liveliness to an otherwise dull and shady part of your office environment and even attract possible job applicants.

Having plants also adds great health benefits for your workers and their work environment. They largely remove impurities to improve the air quality within the work space. Plus, placing them within your office can also significantly reduce noise levels, reduce stress, enhance creativity and productivity.

To help you decide on which plants to have, here are some of our top recommendations on decorative plants. Once you’ve chosen the types of plants, you may click here and look for large plants pots so you can start decorating your space area.

1.       Angelonia

This beautiful plant blooms attractive flowers that come in deep purple, indigos, white, pinks, and mauves. This long-blooming plant (also called summer snapdragon) will be a great addition that will definitely bring an energetic mood due to your workplace because of its vibrant colours. It grows for about 18 inches tall, with its flowers blooming in an upright spike and doesn’t need deadheading to keep its appearance and maintain its display of blossoming flowers. The Angelonia’s striking display makes it a gardener’s favourite.

2.       Spider Plant

Spider plants may be one of the typical indoor plants to have. This highly unusual yet attractive green plant produces slender leaves that may grow out to an extensive length. The leaves usually arch up and its off-shoots normally develop a new baby spider plant that you can use to create another spider plant. Normally, they are hung in a beautiful pot but this variety can also be grown in a large pot, you’ll just have to maintain and snip off any off-shoots that will appear.

3.       Fittonia

Fittonia typically features a beautiful array of red, white or pink veins, a perfect contrast on its visually appealing dark green leaves which is why it is called a mosaic plant or a nerve plant. Choosing Fittonia for an indoor plant is a good option since it thrives on fluorescent light. It is quite sensitive to strong lighting since it is a nerve plant and is susceptible to have leaf burns if left in direct sunlight.

4.       Euphorbia

With almsot 2,420 species, Euphorbia is considered to be one of the largest flowering plant genera. Euphorbia or Spurge has important contributions to man as they are used as sources of drugs, ornamentals, and more. It ranges from tiny compact succulents, perennials, shrubs to large trees. So you may need to identify the Spurge before purchasing since it’s a whole family of plants

5.       Begonia

Begonia is among the easiest perennial flowering plants to grow in pots and a popular type of cultivated plants to have indoors. Flowering begonias grow well in partially shaded areas, but does not tolerate freezing temperatures so it would be recommended that you place these plants in non-conditioned sections within the office area.

So from here, you can choose which of these five plants to put in your office. Do make sure you follow the correct maintenance and watering routine for the chosen plants so they can grow beautifully inside the workplace. It is important to note that each plant species also have different sets of rules of growing, and a preferred environment they thrive in so proper care should be observed for these beautiful, delicate plants.
